The President of Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of Romania, Valeriu Ştefan Zgonea, paid an official visit to the Republic of Slovenia, from 27 to 28 November 2014

The President of the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of Romania, Valeriu Zgonea, paid an official visit to the Republic of Slovenia, from 27 to 28 November 2014, at the invitation of Dr. Milan Brgles, the President of the National Assembly of Slovenia. The following members of the Chamber of Deputies of Romania composed the Romanian delegation: Liliana Minca, Seres Dénes, Dan-Cristian Popescu and Daniel Catalin Zamfir.

The program of the official visit included discussions with Borut Pahor, the President of the Republic of Slovenia, with Miro Cerar, Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia, and at the parliamentary level with Dr. Milan Brglez, the President of the Slovenian National Assembly, with the leaders of parliamentary groups, with Jozef Horvat, Chairman of the Committee for Foreign Policy and Kamal Izidor Shaker, President of the Committee for European Affairs and with the representatives of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with Romania. The agenda has focused on the Romanian-Slovenian parliamentary relations, issues of common interest of the national and European agendas, on the political and economic cooperation between the two countries, energy security, developments in Ukraine, the situation in the Republic of Moldova, EU Strategy for the Danube Region and Western Balkans.

The Chamber of Deputies of Romania visited the historic centre of Ljubljana and Postojna, where he had meetings with Igor Marent, the Mayor of Postojna, and with Marjan Batagelj, CEO of Postojna Jama, UNESCO World Heritage.

The President of the Chamber of Deputies of Romania, Valeriu Zgonea, and Dr. Milan Brgles, president of the National Assembly of Slovenia attended as guests of honour the Reception celebrating the National Day of Romania. At the event dedicated to Romania's National Day celebration that was organised by the Embassy of Romania to the Republic of Slovenia, participated the representatives of the Slovenian authorities, members of the diplomatic and consular corps, members of the Romanian community in the Republic of Slovenia and business representatives from both countries.
